Mass Effect = pr0n?
The video above has caused outrage at the Cybercast News Service a deeply conservative Web site who consider it to present a moral danger to children and that the developers should be prosecuted.
This is hilarious! A quote from the article follows;
The game is “clearly marketed to minors,” Cathy Ruse, a lawyer and senior fellow for legal studies at the Family Research Council, told Cybercast News Service.
“There are cultural implications for feeding porn to kids in this way,” and “when you do this, you’re teaching them a distorted lesson about human sexuality and human dignity. These are lessons that they will take with them into adulthood and ultimately society,” Ruse said.
I’ll tackle the first point, that they claim Mass Effect is marketed to minors. It is in America an ‘M’ rated game, it is clearly NOT targeted at children. It is laughable!
As for the second point, this is not ‘feeding porn to kids’ hell, it is barely porn at all! I have seen worse on Neighbors for chrissake! They are claiming that a bit of leg and ass is porn, and that my friends…it utter bullshit.
Teaching people a distorted message about sexuality? Come on get your heads out of the sand and into the real world, sex is a part of everyday life and more young people than ever are having it. A BBC News article from 1990 shows statistics that sex is becoming ever more common among the youth of today. Instead of hiding people from the truth we should be teaching them how to be safe, nothing more or less.
The CNS article goes on to say;
Bob Waliszewki, media specialist with Focus on the Family, told Cybercast News Service, “We never shy away from sexuality in the media. It’s just a question of how is that sexuality portrayed. One can use the media to portray some very healthy forms of sexuality. And when done wisely with taste and age-appropriateness, it can be done well.”
“Unfortunately,” he said, “Mass Effect doesn’t do that and even goes so far as to allow homosexuality to be on par with heterosexuality and heterosexuality outside of its proper context of marriage.”
How is this any different to sexual references we get in other forms of media? Oh I know, it is in a game! Games are THE taboo subject right now so anything the can clutch at straws to damage the gaming industry image they will use.
Is there anything wrong with homosexuality today? No, there never was and never will be. These people need to wake up and realise what the real world is like nowadays.
These people make me laugh, and their article is utterly stupid. They must realise that they can’t keep themselves away from what the world is really like forever.

First off, Focus on the Family is nothing more the US version of Al-Qaeda. These type of people will blow up abortion clinics, and kill in the name of God. What is the difference between blowing up an abortion clinic, and knocking down the World Trade Center? News coverage. In addition, these people remind me of the Third Reich. They would kill homosexuals. Hell, they would put them into Gas Chambers, if they could.
Secondly, why are these stupid politicians focusing on videogames? Oh yeah. They have this stupid notion that it is a “kids” activity. They try to hide their prejudice, behind their belief that they are helping the children. They aren’t helping them. They are the cause of the problem. They are the people that wanted evolution removed from schools, because it undermined their form of mind control. Forget that!
If these SOBs wanted to “Focus on the Family,” they would put forth efforts to educate children about safer sex. They would teach them that condoms are intend for STD prevention, and pregnancy prevention. If these people really cared (HA!), they would know what the real problems of the world happen to be. Sometimes, it feels like you are showing a dog a magic trick.
