Knives Are Bad M’kay?

Monday, January 14th, 2008

According to an interview with the shitrag Sun newspaper our Prime Minister Gordon Brown is calling for a ban on knives in the real world…and the gaming world!

The PM went on: “I am very worried about video and computer games.

“No one wants censorship or an interfering State.

“But the industry has some responsibility to society and needs to exercise that.”

More on TF2 changes…

Monday, January 14th, 2008

This thread has popped up on the Steam forums detailing possible changes to the Soldier and to the Pyro in Team Fortress 2. The thread poster got in touch with Robin Walker concerning Pyro point scoring and the Rocket Launcher for the Soldier. The response from Robin is as follows.

Hi Buzzbob.

Thanks for all the feedback, and I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying the
game. We are indeed investigating Soldier changes, and one of the
changes we’re trying out is focused on making Soldiers a little more
careful firing their rockets at point blank targets.

As for the Pyro scoring, we have a minor tweak coming down the pipe.
He’s going to get a small amount of points for every enemy he ignites.
This should reward you for those moments where you drop into the middle
of an enemy pack and light them all up, hurting them all and disrupting
their plans, but not managing to actually kill them.

Robin.

Until we hear anything confirmed from Valve we should just wait and see, but following on from other recent Team Fortress 2 news I think we can put this down as probably being true.

My view = good news! The Pyro change sounds really good, and it will possibly get me back into playing TF2 :D

Chivalry Is Not Dead

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Thanks to Rock, Paper, Shotgun I have just enjoyed the joys of Chivalry Is Not Dead a lovely little point and click mini-rpg adventure game. Involving multiple possible plots, multiple possible endings, and multiple possible meanings, this game is well worth having a go at.

It tells a story that you control, you can chose where you want to go with the game. Do you want to do battle for good or for evil? Is good really good and is evil really evil? Questions questions so many questions!

There are some really funny jokes, some not so funny, and while the dialogue may dwindle away to nothing-ness with some characters after a bit, you actions can change everything.

Reminded me of Masq in some ways, and that most certainly is a good thing.

Mass Effect = pr0n?

The video above has caused outrage at the Cybercast News Service a deeply conservative Web site who consider it to present a moral danger to children and that the developers should be prosecuted. Read on for my thoughts

Fallout 3 - Brotherhood get blogged

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

The first blog from developers Bethesda for Fallout 3 has gone live and can be viewed right here. This blog also features a fair few new pieces of Concept Art for Fallout 3.

This first blog focuses on the Brotherhood of Steel and a nice extract is as follows…

How, exactly, does one worship technology?

Is it as simple as praying to a golden, robotic calf? Perhaps “god” is recognized as some kind of sentient artificial intelligence who demands subservience in exchange for feats and favors?

Or maybe, just maybe, the human race has already answered this question: technology is worshipped, simply and plainly, through obsession and attainment. We are a people dominated by technology, from our electrically-powered cities right down to our scientifically engineered anti-depressant medications. And every Sunday mass we miss to stay home and watch football on our HDTVs is further proof that now, more than ever, technology is the deity we hold most dear.

Now imagine all of that compulsion, all of that addiction we as an entire race share, and encapsulate it into one group of people. Imagine the obsession and fervor, the unending need for technological superiority, and the ultimate futility of such a goal.

Imagine, if you will, the Brotherhood of Steel.

Prototype - Focus on Blackwatch video

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

Cheeers GameTrailers!

That above video has just blown my socks off…not literally but figuratively. Prototype has now jumped out of nowhere PC Gamer UK games to watch to be a game that I am now watching out for.

From what I have read and that video told me, you play a character, Alex in an open world environment. You have been infected with some type of virus and must survive in this world while you have these mysterious ‘Blackwatch’ hunting your ass. I am sure that over time we will get more details, but the sheer class of that video impressed me. They used some really cool shots when interviewing members of the dev team and the gameplay footage and artwork was pretty impressive if I may say so myself.

One thing, Blackwatch = Combine ripoffs?
