Ubisoft hates Europe (and rest of the world)!
It is official, Ubisoft as an entire company hates Europe!
The French mega-publisher/developer has just joined the Steam Collective bringing with it such games as Far Cry, IL-2 Sturmovik and the Tom Clancy games, Assassins Creed will follow soon.
However following in the footsteps of Atari these games are only available to people from the United States and Canada. So if you don’t like in North America then you are going to be losing out from a massive range of titles on Steam.
According to Rock, Paper, Shotgun this has nothing to do with Valve. Gabe Newell said this;
“It’s their call. We offer worldwide coverage, and we’re happy to offer the products to as many customers as the publisher/developer desires.”
My opinion of Ubisoft is very up and down, this just makes me even more disappointed with them. I am not angry, just disappointed.

Ubisoft are, I’m led to believe, a French company. Last I checked, France wasn’t part of North America.
On a more serious note (and yes, I made this point in RPS chat, but I feel it warrants making again in a more permanent form); who’s left? Outside of MS who must be seen as championing the dying GfWL and EA, who have their own digital distribution platform (abhorrent thing that it is), what other big names are there not on Steam.
So, what next for Steam? Perhaps moving onto non-gaming content. I vaguely recall mumblings about that.

Indeed they are…damn Frenchies :P
Yeah that is something to think about, there really aren’t that many now…well there is no World of Warcraft for one :P
Yeah that is the next logical step, Steam > iTunes :D

How did I possibly forget about Actard. Will they ever come to Steam? Well, given that Vivendi will own 51% of them, and Vivendi and Valve don’t exactly get on, well, it’s not likely is it?

Ah you forget Call of Duty dear Seniath ;)

Nope. Nor did I forget a good portion of the iD back catalogue, or ET:QW :p
Having this conversation in two places is getting confusing, I think we should stop.
