Steam – BOGOF
For those of you not in the know, BOGOF stands for Buy One Get One Free, and while working in the retail industry it is a phrase that I am…well sick and tired of hearing at times. However upon hearing that BOGOF is coming to Steam I was delighted, then disappointed.
I was delighted to see that Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway was coming to Steam in September and as an added bonus and pre-orders via Steam would result in BOGOF being applied as Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 was going to be thrown in for free.
However dismay soon struck as I realised this was not going to be open to any non-US residents. It is that damn Ubisoft limiting the distribution of the game. Damn them to Hell’s Highway.

Yeah, talk about a let down. There I was, slaving away over a hot keyboard at work, when I spotted the news on Eurogamer. “Wahay!”, I thought, “I’ve always fancied having a go at that BIA game, that’ll be perfect for when I get home this evening.”
I hope Ubisoft see sense and open this offer up to the rest of the world or at least give a good reason why they can’t as all the good will being earnt by this otherwise smart marketing move will be negated by the frustration caused by the rest of the world’s exclusion.

Same here dartt, I really don’t understand why some companies selling on Steam are still limiting their selling opportunities by only letting people from certain regions by their games.
I know Valve can’t go bossing around people who want to sell on their platform, but when this happens it just makes me lose faith in Steam.
/anger and the injustice of it all
