In what I aim to do any day that I get the time to do so I will be posting a brief roundup of the news stories that caught my eye and any other interesting tid-bits worth mentioning.

Rumour’ing
The latest bit of juicy rumour and ‘insider’ information is that a Bioshock prequel is being lined up…to be the sequel…anyway this rumour comes form Next-Gen.biz with mention of a 2009 release and murmurings that Ken Levine may not be involved.

Awards
It is that time of year again when the awards are handed out. First off we have the Wii and the DS winning Emmy’s for the motion-sensing controls and touch-screen gameplay. Thanks to Dtoid for that.

Also it has been announced that legendary game designer Sid Meier is due to awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the GDC this year. Kotaku get the praise.

Take-overs
Take-overs are rife in the gaming world at the moment with Take-Two snapping up the Mafia developer Illusion Sofworks and renaming them 2K Czech. CVG

McDonald’s UK Chief Executive blames gaming for obesity in todays society…who is he to talk eh? Dtoid

Industry
The top 10 selling games of 2007 in the UK have been revealed to the public with FIFA topping the charts. CVG
