Red Alert 3 – Special Edition

Monday, August 11th, 2008

Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 is going to have a special edition here in the UK exclusively available at GAME. What is so special I hear you ask about a special edition of a game? Well check out the list of what you will get for your £44.99.

* Limited edition collector’s tin.
* Five exclusive multiplayer/skirmish maps.
* Bonus DVD featuring: Full-length Raising the Iron Curtain making-of movie with exclusive interviews from the star-studded cast, Concept art montage video (From Pens to Pixels), Bloopers and outtakes from the cinematics sessions, Women of Red Alert 3 montage video, An inside look into the future of Command & Conquer and Red Alert, Tips on how to unlock the secrets of each side, directly from the developers, Complete video walk-thru on one of the game’s hardest missions! And more!
* Game Soundtrack including exclusive remixes of Hell March and Hell March 2 by From First to Last, plus the all-new Hell March 3.
* Exclusive Beta Key to a future C&C game!
* A C&C Red Alert 3-exclusive item for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (also available with the standard edition of C&C Red Alert 3).

Those two things which I put in bold there? Those are the things which make me sit up and wonder what this is all about. Many people have jumped to the conclusion that it is Tiberium that is being reffered to there. However I disagree, Tiberium is not labelled as a Command and Conquer game, since I first heard about it it has been made clear that it is not Command and Conquer: Tiberium.

As such I think we have a couple of clear options for what this future C&C game is going to be. A new game in the Generals series, a new game in the Tiberian series or maybe even a totally new Command and Conquer series.

One to go on, don’t forget the competition to win a Red Alert 3 Beta Key.

GTA IV Malaysian Mag Cover

GTA IV Malaysian Mag Cover

That has arrived via a forumite on halflife2.net and is the latest piece of the puzzle regarding a GTA IV PC release. That is a cover of what seems to be the latest copy of the Malaysian version of PC Gamer and claims that GTA IV is “soon on PC.”

European retailer City Disc is still listing a PC version of GTA IV for a 30th October release.

As of right now neither Take Two nor Rockstar have responded to enquiries about the magazine cover, and it is unclear whether the magazine has just compiled rumours of a PC release of GTA IV or has confirmed information on it.

GTA IV PC – The Latest

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Thanks to reader James it has emerged that Swiss retailer hitparade is listing a PC version of GTA IV as being released in October 2008. As previously reported citydisc is listing a PC version of GTA IV as being released on the 31st October of this year.

GRID and Codemasters Coming to Steam?

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

While there has been no official confirmation yet (email sent to PR, no response as of yet) it is seeming ever more likely that Codemasters is coming to Steam. Both the FAQ for Race Driver GRID and a post by Rich Tysoe the GRID Community Manager mention that GRID will be coming onto Steam.

The latter post says that GRID will be available on Steam today, the same day that GRID is released in the US. It also states that it will be a worldwide Steam release. So no region locking from Codemasters then it seems. Expect clarification on this later today.

GTA IV PC Update

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Following up from yesterdays news regarding a German retailer listing GTA IV for the PC the game listing on CityDisc has been changed.

The release date is now for 30th October and this has appeared in German for what I assume is the product description.

Das Spiel GTA 4 für PC ist vom Publisher Take 2 noch nicht bestätigt.

Releasedatum noch offen!!

Which translated on Babel Fish comes out with this.

The play GTA 4 for PC is not yet confirmed of the Publisher Take 2. Release date still openly!!

Which when translated again into proper English by yours truly comes out with something like this.

The release date for GTA 4 for PC has not yet been confirmed by the Publisher, Take 2. The release date is not guaranteed and is open to change.

As of writing this I have not had any response from Rockstar or Take 2 regarding this issue.

German Retailer Lists PC GTA IV – November 30?

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

PC GTA IV

Thanks to a tip off from a forumite from Half-Life2.net I was pointed in the direction of GameRush which in turn linked me to German retailer CityDisc which lists a PC version of GTA IV for a November 30th release.

Considering previous GTA games have taken between 6 and 8 months to arrive onto the PC this does seem a plausable release date. It is also a date that sits well with the holiday game rush.

I am going to get in touch with RockStar to try to get some clarification on this.

PC Turismo?

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Is it possible, is it really possible that we may one day see a Gran Turismo game on the PC? According to Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi it may just be! In an interview with German site derStandard Kazunori had this to say:

Frage: Gibt es eine Chance, dass Gran Turismo auf einer anderen Plattform erscheint?

Kazunori Yamauchi: Es ist sehr sehr unwahrscheinlich, dass GT auf einer anderen Konsole herauskommt. Aber vielleicht kommt es auf den PC. Vor allem am chinesischen Markt könnten wir so die Verbreitung fördern.

Which according to Develop Mag means that it is very unlikely to see a Gran Turismo game on any console other than a Sony one, it is possible it may come to the PC. China is touted as a likely target for the game.

Being a lover of the GT games back in the day on my PSX/PS2 this is great news! GT5 looks gorgeous on the PS3 and for it to come to the PC would be utterly fantastic!

Thief 4 Rumour!

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

It seems that Eidos Montreal are planning to bring back another franchise to go along with Deus Ex 3.

AAA games, with high quality licenses that offer exciting challenges – e.g., the first two games we develop will revive successful franchises

According to Rock, Paper, Shotgun investigation it could be Thief 4.

Another quote from the Edios Montreal site:

Eidos-Montréal is proud to announce the recruitment for our 2nd “AAA” project.
… A hint! The title begins with the letter “ T ”

Very intriguing, Tomb Raider has already been brought back from the dead so it seems to fit that it would be a new Thief game. Of course we all know full well the danger of looking too deeply into things like this, but the possibilities are certainly exciting!
