Red Alert 3 Beta - Coming Soon

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

According to an extremely over the top e-mail I have just received from EA, the Red Alert 3 public beta will soon be going live. As EA have mentioned before regarding this beta the sooner you registered your key the better.

It is our intent to start the beta test small, and make every effort to quickly ramp up to thousands of players in a matter of days and weeks throughout late-July and August.

Considering it is already the 26th of July does this may mean that the public beta will be going live sometime next week, however nothing is for definite in the world of EA and Command and Conquer.

Are You A Hero?

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Thanks to a helpful Half-Life 2.net forumite I was pointed in the direction of this webpage which allows you to apply to become a Battlefield Heroes Beta Tester.

After agreeing to a Non Disclosure Agreement you then must go forth and provide some information about yourself including any previous Beta testing experience and a reason for why you should be in the Battlefield Heroes Beta.

I now find myself waiting eagerly for an e-mail which I hope will provide me with further Beta information…why don’t you try?

Battlefield Heroes Beta Info

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

I went off to check the Battlefield Heroes website after a tip off from a Half-Life2.net forumite about some Beta info emerging soon. What do I see but this announcement.

Hello Heroes!

As you may have noticed, you killed our website. We are not angry. We’re very pleased you want to be in the Beta.

The beta for Heroes will be divided into several stages, the first of which is all about testing out this new way of getting games to you all; by downloading and installing them from a website. We’ll also be trying out some other dull stuff to do with servers, so we are expecting the systems to be down as much as they are up.

To help us track down all the technical issues, we have asked a third party to find us some specialist Beta testers. We are doing all this because we want to be sure that when we launch Heroes, everything will work smoothly.

So hang in there! We will announce here when it’s time to sign up for the public stage of the Beta.

Dawn of War 2 Confirmed

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

THQ has confirmed that Dawn of War 2 is in the works.

The press blurb promises that DoW2 will run on the Essence Engine 2.0 and will involve a non-linear single-player campaign and a co-operative multiplayer mode. The title is being developed exclusively for the PC (a rarity these days) and is set for a Spring 2009 release.

The press release also mentions that owners of the latest Dawn of War expansion, Soulstorm will have the chance to take part in an invitation only multiplayer beta. There is no timescale for when this will start up.

Red Alert 2 Tournament

With the Red Alert 3 Beta seemingly drawing ever closer something has stirred with a classic from the Command and Conquer series.

A new EALA backed Red Alert 2 tournament has been confirmed and is due to start on the 1st of April. Strike-Team are using their XWIS servers (the official EA sponsored WOL servers for Red Alert 2) to host the tournament that will last two months.

Prizes will range from a spot in the Red Alert 3 beta to a $250 online gift certificate and a free copy of Red Alert 3 when it ships.

To take part you simply have to boot up Red Alert 2, go to the internet tab and chose a nickname and a password (8 characters exactly) and you will then be good to go!
