Peggle Nights Review
Wednesday, October 1st, 2008
Ok so I know that many people have issues with Peggle, they deride it for being a game of chance and nothing more. They claim that is gay for featuring a Unicorn and many other cute characters. They chastise it for lacking a story-line. None of that matters though, Peggle Deluxe was one of the best puzzle games when it came out, and Peggle Nights is just as good.
It is just as good, but sadly it doesn’t offer us anything new and innovative. Sure we have a new character and a trophy room along with more challenges and a state page, but there are no magnificent leaps forward in gameplay. All of the characters have new ‘night time’ alter-egos and make some new comments and such like throughout the game.
Ultimately though Nights is just Peggle part 2, and really that is no bad thing. If you didn’t like the original game, well sadly Nights still won’t be your cup of tea. What Nights does provide is a new set of challenges and a great way to while away a few hours of your day while you wait for something a bit meatier to arrive. Sending a ball bouncing around some pegs trying to get a high score either appeals to you or it doesn’t. When you see the ball bounce on the rim of the bucket three times before eventually dropping in it is a great moment. Those bonus points don’t hurt either.
There isn’t much more that can be said about Nights that hasn’t been said about the original Peggle, I loved the original, and I love this new one. If you want some new Peggle challenges and a new character then get Nights and enjoy.
