I have been tipped off by Roger LaMarca about this stunning video from QuakeCon showing ZeRo4 and cypher battling it out in the Quake Live 1v1 Tournament Final. Wow they are good, if I was facing one of those two I would have had my arse handed to me on a plate.
The gameplay looks great, like classic Quake 3 with a refinement for the modern-era. I am sure that Quake Live will be a big hit. Check out the match up here.
QuakeCon is surely the best place for getting a boat load of news that has any relevance at all to id Software. This year is no different with Wolfenstein, Doom 4, Rage and the Doom movie being discussed and shown off. You want a low-down on all the news, then read on my friends.
Quake Live, wow, that looks fun. That looks like the kind of shooter we have been missing for quite a while now, pure blooded Death Match. I know the latest Unreal may be the newest Death Match game on the block, but anything that harks back to the qualities of Quake III doesn’t really have a chance.
Though really it is Battlefield Heroes which is the rival of Quake Live. Those two are the upcoming big hitters in the world of free to play online shooters available for the masses. It will certainly be interesting to see which comes out on top.
