Atari to Publish Tension

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Word has reached me from a very reliable source that the latest game from Ice-Pick Lodge is going to be published by Atari in Western markets. The publishing agreement is planned to be sorted by the end of the week.

Tension (known as Turgor in Russian) has been available in CIS countries for quite some while, but only now is a Western release seeming near. More details hopefully will be forthcoming over the next week or so.

It must also be noted that Atari have a presence on Steam which would go hand in hand with this comment by The LxR (from Ice-Pick Lodge) back in May that they were looking into digital distribution for the game.

For those of you who haven’t seen anything of Tension yet, hit the jump for some videos.

Pathologic and Tension

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Pathologic and Tension are two games from Russian developers Ice-Pick Lodge.

Pathologic was released a few years ago and Tension is still in development. Why do I want to talk about these games? Well because they seem pretty damn weird, interesting and, well throw in numerous other words like that.

I would like to direct you to a couple of articles on Rock, Paper, Shotgun that are all about Pathologic. The first one can be read here and the second one can be read here. There third part of that series of articles is here.

I will just say those two articles convinced me to buy this game, I may hate it, but I am determined to play it. It sounds very intriguing.

In regards to Tension there is little I want you to do apart from watch this (not work safe) video to see what it is all about.

Why do Russian studios make the best games eh?
