Team Fortress 2 goes Dark Knight

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Have you ever wondered what would happen if the story of The Dark Knight was told via the Team Fortress 2 Death Box? Using the Death Box Generator the guys at Ubercharged have made this delightful piece of work.

Awesome stuff.

OM NOM NOM – by The Heavy

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

That is the Sandvich, the first unlockable that the Heavy will be able to get his massive hands on. In short the Sandvich will heal 120 points of Heavy health and will take four seconds to be devoured. During this time the Heavy will not be able to take part in the battle around him and he must set aside his shotgun if he wishes to take the Sandvich into battle. One last thing, his eating is very loud..OM NOM NOM in video form.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun – A Community Server

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Anyone a member of the Rock, Paper, Shotgun almighty, godlike, over 1000 members Steam Community Group. In honour of reaching 1000 members sometime recently we decided to do something to benefit all of us who are regulars in the community. The result? A Team Fortress 2 server.

It is known as the Rock, Paper, Shotgun – Community Server for Servicing the Community server and the IP is – 85.236.101.56:27115

It shall be, and must be noted that this is not an official Rock, Paper, Shotgun server, this is just something we as a community came together to do. If you do check it out, then please, keep everything nice and friendly. We have powers, powers to kill…

Team Fortress 2 Arena

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

I was so tempted to start writing Quake 3 Team Arena then, but if I had done that I would have made a huge mistake. Anyway the latest word regarding the Team Fortress 2 Heavy Update is that we will be having an ‘Arena’ mode with a total of five new maps, two brand new maps and three re-workings of current maps. Also coming with the Arena mode is a new environment which is coming with the Lumberyard map, this map will allow you to explore the Alpine world.

Arena matches will be fast paced with a focus on your team’s class makeup and making a plan to counter to opposition’s tactics. The game will end when all the players from one team are killed, or when the central control point is unlocked and captured. This all sounds very interesting and much better than my initial impression was when I heard the rumours about this game mode. Everything should be revealed tonight.

I Have Gloves That Kill

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

These are the Killing Gloves of Boxing (KGB anyone) and is the first unlockable revealed for the Heavy. Upon killing someone with the KGB the Heavy will have five seconds of guaranteed critical hits, using the crit-boost and the KGB the Heavy will be able to extend this killing feast. We just hope that the Heavy doesn’t travel down to Georgia!

Tasteless jokes aside the list of the Heavy achievements has also been revealed right here for you all to peruse. Buried beneath the numerous Soviet references is this little gem:

Some investigation reveals this is the file name for that icon: tf_heavy_kill_taunt which simply put means that the Heavy will have a taunt which can kill, just like the Pyro.

Heavy Update – Its Biiiig

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Some of you may have thought that the Pyro Update for Team Fortress 2 packed in a whole heap of new stuff. While that was true at the time, the Heavy Update is going to come along and change the way we view Team Fortress 2 updates for ever. The update is going to be so big that a new Heavy Update website had to be created to pack in all the news that will be drip fed to us over the next week with the update being planned to go live next Tuesday.

The update will feature three unlockable weapons and thirty-five all new achievements for the Heavy. In addition you can expect to see a whole new game mode along with five maps for it to launch. Furthermore there will be a new Payload map which will have more open spaces than Goldrush, and if that is not enough the community map, cp_steel will also feature in the update.

Keep your eyes peeled here for new information, screenshots and a special installment of the ‘Meet The Team’ videos. For now, check out this page for the lowdown on cp_steel.

OMGWTFBBQ – Achieved!

OMGWTFBBQ Unlocked

Upon witnessing that appear in the bottom right of my screen in Team Fortress 2 I was a happy man, but hunt for the achievement which had lasted all of five minutes was finally at an end. I had become a holder of the OMGWTFBBQ achievement, and I am proud to say that I did it legitimately.

TF2 Logo

After reading Tom Francis’ bloggings on his quest to earn the OMGWTFBBQ achievement and Chris Livingston’s take on it I decided to go out and focus on getting it myself.

I informed my comrades on the Rock, Paper, Shotgun Steam Group chat of my goal and recieved numerous ‘good luck’ messages. Well maybe not quite, but I was given various hints about strategy and whatnot.

I jumped onto the PC Gamer Team Fortress 2 server, went through two rounds on some map that I have already forgotten the name of, then we got onto cp_Well and map which I have enjoyed immensely in the past few weeks. I went to the other side of the tracks and saw two possible victims, a Heavy who was my initial target and a Soldier who was running in my direction. I whipped out my Shotgun, hit G and hoped for the best.

BBQ Kill

I held my breath as my Pyro went through the motions of the Haduoken and suddenly there it was my achievement, I had done it. OMGWTFBBQ, perhaps one of the most ingenious acheivements Valve have put in their games, just behind the Gnome in Episode 2 was mine. A great day in the land of Team Fortress 2.
